Silicon System Design Engineer - 81473

The Role:

AMD Graphics Memory Technology Team is on the lookout for a dynamic, energetic electronic and silicon engineer to join our growing team. As a Senior Silicon Design Engineer, you will be working on the pre/post-silicon product test plans for bring-up, feature enablement, characterization, validation and system debug efforts of AMD GPU systems. The work focuses around GDDR6, GDDR5, HBM, and legacy memories and the enablement, characterization and qualification of Platform Solutions. The team is responsible for end to end enablement of memory subsystem for the product.

Key responsibilities:

  • Build and execute bring-up, feature enablement, characterization and validation test plans, report coverage plan and perform debug experiments
  • Technical development of memory interface for higher speed operation and new features.
  • Develop bring-up to validation strategies, pioneer hardware/software validation improvements!
  • Perform system-level debug and root cause analysis to narrow down the issues to various HW/SW blocks and drive multi-functional engineering efforts to root cause of sightings and verification of fixes with teams in design, diagnostics, firmware, and driver!
  • Supporting issues on customer platforms as requested by customer support teams
  • Preferred experience:

  • Knowledge of DRAM architecture and operation, and proven understanding of circuits/platform design
  • Understanding platform level signal integrity and power integrity technologies
  • Familiarity with industry-standard high-speed protocols, and test methodologies
  • Knowledge of computer hardware architecture (GPU, CPU/APU, memory and bus logic technologies) and software architecture (driver, bios, firmware usage)
  • Hands-on debug experience with GPU/APU, motherboards, memory interface, bus logic a definite asset
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment (i.e., oscilloscopes and logic analyzers)
  • Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Programming/software development knowledge with experience with scripting languages such as Ruby/Python/Perl
  • Critical thinking skills, be able to design experimental testing for debugging purposes
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Leadership and mentoring skills desired
  • Academic credentials:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering, with advanced degree preferred
  • 3+ years of professional experience preferred
