The successful candidate will be work Monday to Friday days, with flexibility required for evening and weekend availability when required. Schedules may change based on needs of the role.
What we need:
The Health and Safety Advisor will be an integral member of our dynamic Occupational Health & Safety Department and will work closely with all departments at the hospital providing expertise through consultation, program development, implementation and evaluation. You will be responsible for the development and administration of processes to ensure hospital–wide compliance with safety legislation including: Emergency planning, conducting needs analyses, environmental investigations, ergonomic assessments, health and safety programs and policies, and health and safety training.
Liaising with federal and provincial authorities and organizations (PSHSA, MOL, WSIB) in working towards a safer workplace. •
Designated management contact for the Ministry of Labour regarding Health and Safety.
Responds in writing to the Ministry of Labour as required.
JHSC, Wellness, Accessibility and Emergency Planning, and others as required.
Ability to facilitate, coach, mentor and lead individuals/groups to achieve quality outcomes and provide exceptional service.
Preferred • Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention is an asset; The Health and Safety Advisor may be required to provide first aid coverage in the department when required.
