Job Description

Reporting to the Account Director, this role, Account Specialist supports the Strategy development for key client accounts including support, as necessary, through phases 1-7 of the Nuclear BD Lifecycle. These phases are as follows:

Strategic Planning and Positioning Opportunity Assessment Capture Bid Planning Bid Preparation Opportunity Closing Continual Improvement.

This diversified role covers all aspects of the business development life cycle, from pre-opportunity discussions with the client to negotiating of final Purchase Orders. Throughout the business development life cycle, this role is exposed to overall company business development strategy, confidential opportunity positioning as well as supporting strategic initiatives for marketing our services across all accounts.

General duties include:

  • Supports the Account Director with client positioning and defining opportunities with clients for sole sourced work.
  • Interfaces with client directly as required
  • Interfaces with potential and active partners on joint opportunities, throughout all phases of the strategy/bid process
  • Supports the Account Director with any registrations or documentation ensuring required pre-bidding qualifications are met.
  • Supports the Account Director with capture strategy for major and strategic proposals. Activity success is defined as understanding the client needs, the competitive landscape, our solution and value-adds, as well as applying lessons learned from past proposals and project execution, to assimilate a capture plan that will guide the team to enhancing the opportunity’s win percentage.
  • Hold responsibility for the capture strategy and bid development for all sole sourced small opportunities (<$5m CAD) relating to the account, including but not limited to: client engagement pre RFP release, bid generation and negotiation post submission.
  • Collaborate with account managers, communications and other necessary stakeholders in the development of new marketing material, relating to opportunity and capture phases of the bidding process
  • Works with the Business Development & Marketing Team to support new business strategy initiatives, as and when required
  • Maintains the CRM database with accurate and timely business development updates, which are key to the pursuit process (e.g. Start Date, Price, Go/Get information, etc.)
  • Adheres to all Corporate Policies and Procedures including Compliance, Risk and Levels of Authority.
  • Ensure that the companies Code of Ethics and Business Conduct is adhered to at the highest level at all times
  • Highlight and take necessary action in the case of any potential conflicts of interest (COI); adhering to any and all project related COI disclosure requirements
  • Interfaces with client during Purchase Order negotiation and acceptance process.

  • Fluency in Mandarin is a strong asset
  • A team player with strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to influence without power.
  • Strong organizational skills, work planning skills, and the ability to work with a minimum of supervision
  • Strong oral and written skills in order to interact with customers and internal staff
  • Commercial wherewithal
  • Knowledge and understanding of the key client drivers
  • Familiarity of SNC-Lavalin Nuclear strategy relating to the Business Unit as a whole and specific to key client accounts
  • Familiarity and knowledge of nuclear projects and engineering/technical terminology is an asset
  • Conversant with SNC-Lavalin Nuclear’s corporate objectives, work methods, processes, procedures and organization is an asset. In the absence of nuclear sector experience, a working history and understanding of the engineering consultancy business model is a valuable asset.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities required to tackle a wide range of unique problems
  • Must have a solid understanding of engineering consultancy pricing models and its principles/requirements relating to treatment of risks, margins and cashflows.
  • Professional attitude, clear communicator, relationship-building skills for internal and external interfaces

  • Combination of post-secondary education with relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of marketing/business development and/or sales experience.

The positions are for regular full time Technician/Technologists to support inspection activities for our clients based on the project demands .

    Responsibilities include: 

  • Maintenance and testing of inspection hardware including but not limited to assembly and repairs for robotic tooling systems in a radiation environment
  • Assist with inspections at client sites.
  • Assist in the setup and execution of inspection and maintenance equipment at client sites as required by the project demands.
  • Work under the Candu Energy QA and Project QA programs in compliance with CSA N286.
  • Effectively and efficiently communicate with team members with good interpersonal skills for the work team and inter-disciplines.
  • Skills/Qualifications:

  • College Diploma in NDE or Quality Engineering.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical hands-on skills and experience.
  • Experience with typical Candu customers’ Human Performance principals and tools.
  • Past experience in inspections of nuclear components will be considered an asset.
  • Have a good working knowledge of shop and field practice.
  • Exhibit excellent and effective communication skills in both oral and written forms.
