Job description:

Core activities:

  • Project management of Windows 10 Readiness & Sustainment workstreams including Windows 10 SAC, Windows 10 Updates deployment, Thin Client and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), desktop architecture, etc.
  • Work collaboratively with Senior Technical PM – Win 10 Readiness & Senior Technical PM – VDI to ensure that all technical solution design and implementation is delivered on time, on budget and to desired quality standards.
  • Works collaboratively with all other project workstreams, inclusive of Business Clinical Readiness, Deployment and Application Readiness, to collect and record requirements, dependencies and alignment of technical deliverables and schedule
  • Develop, maintain and monitor an integrated project plan for all technical deliverables
  • Coordinate all activities required to onboard new technologies to the environment (including engagement with IMITS teams, vendors, Supply Chain, etc.)
  • Includes development and management of project solution delivery proposals, vendor service level and license agreements, etc.
  • Change request, risk and issue documentation/management for technical workstreams including incident management, escalation and troubleshooting
  • Develop materials to support a variety of audiences including project governance (change requests, briefing notes, architecture diagrams, etc.)
  • Translates technical content into audience appropriate materials
  • Provide technical workstream status updates to support overall program reporting
  • Facilitates technical solutioning meetings and documents/disseminates outcomes.
  • Ensures all final technical solutions are documented and production turnover documentation is in place.
  • Contribute to technical cost analysis to support decision documentation and/or forecast development.
  • Supports project recruitment and onboarding/offboarding activities for technical workstreams.
  • Prepares materials for, and provides support to, FWS Program Manager and Director – i.e. presentation materials for governance, key stakeholder groups
  • Other activities:

  • Adherence to FWS PMO and IMITS PQTO standards, metrics, processes, procedures and practices.
  • Delegates appropriate tasks and responsibilities to project team resources.
  • Work cross-functionally to solve problems and implement changes.
  • Work in collaboration with (1) FWS business/clinical readiness, application readiness and technical solutioning teams and (2) Workplace Technology & Services sustainment team to integrate and align planning, solutioning and readiness activities for all implementations
  • Other duties as required
  • Deliverables:

  • Integrated technical project plan
  • Contribute to a governance framework to support Windows 10 readiness and sustainment requirements. 
  • Change requests, risk/issue and incident management documentation for technical workstreams
  • Technical solution documentation
  • Production turnover documentation
  • Monthly status reports for technical workstreams (with support from other resources)
  • Oversee a successful update of approx. 15,000 Windows 10 devices from Win 10 1809 to 1909 before April 2021
  • Updated Service Desk support processes to align with the future state support model
  • Briefing notes, presentation materials, etc. as requested by the Program Manager
  • Must Have: 

  • Demonstrated experience providing leadership in a complex project environment; specifically related to technical project management.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of recent, related experience in technical project management.
  • Clear understanding of the Windows Semi Annual Change (SAC) and how it relates to Long Term Servicing Channel (LTSC), understanding key differences between the two.
  • Familiarity and understanding of application testing and user acceptance testing processes.
  • Must have good understanding and experience of Thin Client / VDI technology (VMWare, Citrix)
  • Must have strong demonstrated track record of successfully deploying increasingly complex technical projects in large, complex organizations (e.g. healthcare, pharmaceuticals, financial services, etc.)
  • Excellent demonstrated record of technical issue resolution including root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and remediation as well as the ability to identify multiple alternate technical options for presentation to the client
  • Prior experience with infrastructure and systems design/test/implementation as well as defining core infrastructure requirements in areas such as Active Directory, servers, security and network architecture; IT lab administration
  • Strong team leadership skills that motivate and encourage collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team, while influencing and supporting.
  • Analytical and broad-based technical knowledge/skills; with ability to think through details and tactics without losing sight of overall strategic goals.
  • Client engagement / interpersonal skills and ability to effectively facilitate discussions with a diverse group of stakeholders, users, etc.
  • Ability to describe technical outcome and benefits in layman terms.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment – proven organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise tact, good judgment and initiative.
  • Excellent proficiency with MS Office toolsets (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including business and technical writing skills.
  • Desirable skillset:

  • Experience working within PHSA and with BC Health Authorities
  • Past project management experience with Clinical Information Systems is an asset
  • PMP certification is an asset
