    Reporting to the Regional Director of Operations, the General Manager will oversee all operational aspects of a state-of-the-art dealership in Calgary, Alberta.

    This position is responsible for successfully leading all departments, including variable and fixed operations.

    Key Responsibilities include:

  • Mentoring and developing the management team including recruiting all management positions, training, completing performance evaluations and developing short and long-term goals for each department manager (includes administrative, sales, parts and service departments).
  • Planning and developing short and long-term goals and objectives annually, and submitting time projections to corporate management for approval.
  • Effectively communicating with the Regional Director of Finance to review departmental forecasts and ensure consistency with annual projections.
  • Attentive to daily operations, recommending and creating improved courses of action where necessary.
  • Explaining the policies and procedures of the dealership to all employees and following up with employees to ensure that these issues are understood and followed.
  • Providing dealership management with weekly reports on the financial condition of the dealership.
  • Reviewing the monthly financial statement to ensure it is complete and accurate.
  • Utilizing the financial statement to identify trends or issues to be addressed.
  • Coordinating with the business and administrative office to ensure that records and analyses are correctly maintained.
  • Creating and maintaining good working relationships with lending institutions and manufacturer personnel.
  • Coordinating regular meetings with the managers of each department to ensure departmental profitability and efficiency.
  • Maintaining an enthusiastic attitude to build positive employee attitudes and morale.
  • Overseeing and maintaining compensation plans for all employees.
  • Creating cost-effective advertising programs and merchandising strategies for the dealership.
  • Focusing on any customer complaints that department managers are unable to rectify and taking the necessary steps to resolve these complaints.

  • Proven ability to effectively mentor and manages a diverse staff.
  • Must have a proven track record of success and a strong focus on Customer Satisfaction.
  • Strong communication skills to deal with customers, employees and vendors.
  • Solid leadership and organizational skills with the ability to understand profit and loss statements
  • Understanding of federal, provincial, and local regulations affecting dealership operations, such as CASL.
  • Previous successful automotive General Management experience with an import or luxury brand.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a post-secondary degree.
  • Relocation costs will be considered for the right candidate.
