ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Regional Director of Operations, the General Manager will oversee all operational aspects of a state-of-the-art dealership in Calgary, Alberta.
This position is responsible for successfully leading all departments, including variable and fixed operations.
Key Responsibilities include: Mentoring and developing the management team including recruiting all management positions, training, completing performance evaluations and developing short and long-term goals for each department manager (includes administrative, sales, parts and service departments). Planning and developing short and long-term goals and objectives annually, and submitting time projections to corporate management for approval. Effectively communicating with the Regional Director of Finance to review departmental forecasts and ensure consistency with annual projections. Attentive to daily operations, recommending and creating improved courses of action where necessary. Explaining the policies and procedures of the dealership to all employees and following up with employees to ensure that these issues are understood and followed. Providing dealership management with weekly reports on the financial condition of the dealership. Reviewing the monthly financial statement to ensure it is complete and accurate. Utilizing the financial statement to identify trends or issues to be addressed. Coordinating with the business and administrative office to ensure that records and analyses are correctly maintained. Creating and maintaining good working relationships with lending institutions and manufacturer personnel. Coordinating regular meetings with the managers of each department to ensure departmental profitability and efficiency. Maintaining an enthusiastic attitude to build positive employee attitudes and morale. Overseeing and maintaining compensation plans for all employees. Creating cost-effective advertising programs and merchandising strategies for the dealership. Focusing on any customer complaints that department managers are unable to rectify and taking the necessary steps to resolve these complaints.
ABOUT YOU Proven ability to effectively mentor and manages a diverse staff. Must have a proven track record of success and a strong focus on Customer Satisfaction. Strong communication skills to deal with customers, employees and vendors. Solid leadership and organizational skills with the ability to understand profit and loss statements Understanding of federal, provincial, and local regulations affecting dealership operations, such as CASL. Previous successful automotive General Management experience with an import or luxury brand. Preference will be given to candidates with a post-secondary degree.
