Reporting to the Clinical Coordinator, performs professional social work of advanced complexity. Assists in resolving complex psychosocial problems. Carries out a variety of casework and counselling methods; consults extensively with hospital staff and community agencies regarding the psychosocial aspects of the patient's situation and participates in the training of Social Work students.


Education, Training And Experience

Masters of Social Work degree () from an accredited school of Social Work required. Current full registration with the BC College of Social Workers. Related social work experience, preferably in a medical setting, and demonstrated clinical competence.

  • Additional information for applicants Masters degree casual social workers are required to provide vacation and workload relief on a full time basis at the Royal Jubilee, Victoria General and Saanich Peninsula Hospital. Clinical areas vary from children and families to older adults, critical care areas such as emergency departments and intensive care units, general medical, rehabilitation, surgical, neurological and psychiatric units including out-patient clinics. All social workers are designated responders under the Adult Guardianship Act and are required to investigate, assess and intervene in all matters related to Adult abuse, neglect and self-neglect.
