One of our public sector clients is looking for a Architectural Engineer to support ongoing projects.

Roles and Responsibilities

Our public sector client is currently seeking the services of a civil engineering graduate, with a specialization in structural engineering, to help with the current surge of work generated by its Seismic Assessments Program and a multitude of property and infrastructure projects


Qualifications and Experience
The civil engineering graduate will provide technical structural engineering support for the Seismic Assessments Program, as well as the Bureau’s infrastructure projects:

Administrative and technical support to AWT Structural Engineering sub-section through:1. Writing Contracting Documents, including Scopes of Work, Contracts, Requests for Proposals, Procurement Plans, and other supporting documentation.2. Coordination with consultants and project managers.3. Preparation of reports and presentations in support of informing upper management and for training purposes.

Technical review of structural engineering consultant reports, studies, recommendations

Providing summaries of seismic assessments performed by consultants

Providing Quality Assurance Reviews.

Perform structural studies (slab loading, slab capacity assessment, seismic base shears based on the National Building Code of Canada)

Work with NRC to develop a seismic risk framework, using existing departmental seismic database.

Operate and maintain structural software and existing seismic database

Attending and participating in various working group meetings as requested

Education: Undergraduate degree in a civil engineering program, specializing in structural engineering, from a recognized Canadian University or an acceptable equivalent from a foreign institution (as determined by one of the agencies referred by the CICIC).
A minimum 24 months experience in the analysis and design* of structural systems for buildings covered under the National Building Code of Canada.

Minimum education required: Bachelor's Degree

Preferred field of study: Engineer
