The Learning & Talent Development Manager is responsible for the design, development, planning, implementation and evaluation of learning & development and leadership development programs aligned to the company’s People strategy and long-term growth plan. The Learning & Talent Development Manager leads the development of Learning and Delivery (L&D) programs for all levels of the organization using best in class and fit for purpose approaches. This role contributes as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and a key member of the Talent and Organizational Development Team and broader People and Culture (P&C) teams.
Learning & Development
Lead the Learning and Development function and maintain the training and development budget
Manage leadership development programs that build leadership capability to high potential employees aligned to Arterra’s core purpose, values and growth ambition
Conduct needs analysis to create development strategies aligned to business objectives. Design, develop and deliver learning solutions using a variety of training methodologies and learning technologies utilizing best in class and fit for purposes approaches to ensure transfer of learning.
Monitor, evaluate, and report on leadership program effectiveness to senior leaders to enable talent decisions and make continuous improvement recommendations to improve organizational effectiveness.
Provide program and instructional design expertise to support all Talent and Organizational Development programs and initiatives
Provide L&D consulting and support to the organization; functional training requests, facilitating team off-sites, creating and maintaining L&D calendar and ongoing evaluation of programs
Oversees and creates content for our Learning platform, Workday Learning, and collaborates and consults with the P&C Shared Services team in support. Research learning trends and best practices and act as a subject matter expert to stakeholders within People & Culture and business leaders. Source learning partnerships and maintain strong vendor relationships
Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging/Culture
Oversees the delivery of Arterra’s Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging (DI&B) strategy through identification of best practices, consultation with various stakeholders, and development of supporting training or tools.
Research DI&B and culture trends and best practices and act as a subject matter expert to stakeholders within People & Culture and business leaders.
Talent Program Strategic Partnership & Business Partnering:
Subject matter expert and business partner for all L&D & Talent programs. This involves partnering with the People & Culture Business Partner team and leaders in the business to educate and celebrate Arterra’s L&D and Total Planning programs including company-wide communications on changes/updates, partnering with leaders to conduct needs assessment analysis and designing solutions.
Supports the broader Talent & Organizational Development team by providing learning and design support to all leadership, DI&B and culture initiatives and provides oversight to more junior employees within the immediate team and across the COE
Leads all content development and business process ownership of these important processes in our HRIS platform, Workday, in consultation and collaboration with the Shared Services team.
Proactively participates in team events and meetings. Is a key contributor to creating a positive team environment and supporting leadership
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Adult Education, Organizational Development or closely related field.
CHRP and/or CTDP designation is an asset.
French speaking an asset
6-8 years’ experience in learning or organizational development
Experience in training needs analysis, designing blended learning solutions, executing and measuring solution effectiveness
Experience designing or delivering leadership and soft skills training to all employee levels
Knowledge of adult education and learning design principles
Knowledge of change management principles (experience leading change management initiatives is an asset)
Excellent presentation and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, high profile initiatives and competing priorities
Strong consulting and influencing skills and strong planning and organization skills
Knowledge of project management practices
