DESCRIPTION

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with site supervision to develop, recommend, and implement the project execution plan after being awarded the project
  • Prepare and / or co-ordinate the preparation of full-cost estimates on Conceptual, Design-Build / Construction Management / IPD / Lump Sum or general tender work
  • Review tender documents to determine the scope of work and assess any potential risks
  • Develop estimates based on costs of materials, subcontractors, labour and equipment
  • Obtain pricing from subcontractors and suppliers
  • Responsible for the entire completion of tender proposal packages for management review
  • Responsible and accountable for the accuracy and completion of assigned estimate
  • Track tender additions and submissions
  • Attend client meetings associated with pre-tender, post tender and project startup
  • Evaluate and recommend allowances for indirect costs, design unknowns, escalation and contingency
  • Generate competitive bids for clients based on tendered pricing received and anticipated timelines
  • Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality or availability of materials

    • REQUIRED SKILLS

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Construction Engineering or equivalent field experience
  • Three to five years of experience in commercial and civil construction estimating
  • Able to read and interpret building specifications, blueprints and as-builds
  • Able to use cost-estimating software to prepare cost quotes and bids
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Bluebeam, and B2W
  • Basic AutoCAD skills is an asset
