Main Purpose:

Member of regulatory compliance team which is responsible with assuring compliance with all regulatory agencies for US physical compliance (including oil and refined products and metals and minerals). The compliance team works with the various trading teams to ensure compliance with the various regulations and also accurate reporting for various monthly, quarterly and annual reports. The compliance team provides advisory support for the trading teams, conducts compliance training for various Trafigura teams and provides document control for all compliance related activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • EPA RFS2 compliance and reporting
  • CARB LCFS compliance and reporting
  • RIN management in EMTS and PTD compliance
  • EIA reporting
  • Customs and Border Protection Imports Exports Free Trade Agreements Duty Drawback
  • RRC T-1 Reporting
  • Nat Gas reporting including FERC and DOE
  • Various other regulatory reporting
  • Abilities, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Self-starter who is capable of advancing an issue/project/reporting deadline with minimal guidance.
  • A strong communicator (both written and verbal skills) to routinely engage with senior level decision makers, and external parties.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a compliance related field – Petroleum specific and transportation fuels regulation experience such as EPA RFS2, LCFS, etc
  • Proven internet research skills; analytic in nature
  • Ability to multi-task and handle various reporting deadlines simultaneously
  • Team player – ability to work effectively within own team and across other Trafigura teams
  • Competencies:

  • Data analytics skills to provide analysis for reporting and compliance
  • Advanced experience in working with multiple programs, including, but not limited to MS Excel, Access, Business object
  • Key Relationships and Department Overview:

  • Reporting to the manager of compliance.
  • Frequent communication between senior level traders, management, and governing agencies.
  • Works closely with the traders, the operators, the deals desk analysts and the settlements team
