Weare hiring a full-time permanent Distribution Project Manager working out of Edmonton, Alberta.

The Distribution Project Manager is accountable for managing annualsystem service, system renewal andthird party projects and programsto fulfill Electricity Operations’Franchise requirements, TELUS agreements, and enhance system reliability and safety. This includes developingaccurate project budgets; obtaining approvals from stakeholders and governing bodies; assigning resources based on priorities; monitoring, controlling and reportingproject progress, spending, and quality; and interacting with internal and external stakeholders to proactively identify and resolve issues and obstacles.

What you’d be responsible for

As the Project Manager, Distribution, you will be responsible but not limited to the following:

  • Providing input and updates to the Distribution Projects Business Plan and developing and implementing respective deliverables.
  • Ensuring on-going and effective positioning of relationships between other positions withinElectricity Operations.
  • Planning, overseeing and leading capital projects from initiation to completion.
  • Developing comprehensive project charters.
  • Analyzing project financial and schedules to address potential problems and communicates progress andstatus as required.
  • Completing annual budgets, financial and regulatory project close out, project capitalization, and post implementation reports.
  • Collaborating with the project scheduler and work coordinators for required resource allocation.
  • Setting IFC target dates, arranging project design walk-throughs, leading design and construction meetings, and reviewing packages prior to construction.
  • Evaluating and appointing external contractors and consultants to support project execution in compliance with EDTI procurement, regulatory, HSE, and legal requirements.
  • Ensuring qualifications, cost minimization, and proper contractor management practices are exercised.
  • Leading projectmeetings for all large-scale, high-profile, environmentally sensitive or complex projects.
  • Conducting site visits, document progress, identifying and managing risks and issues, ensuring compliance with scope, schedule, and budget.

    The successful candidate will also possess the following qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Extensive experience in utility trades, project management, and/or construction.
  • PMP designation.
  • 5 years of progressively responsible experience in electrical distribution systems, including design or construction in aerial and underground distribution systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and manage complex budgets and schedules relative to this area of responsibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a larger management team within a dynamic environment with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to develop, nurture and manage customer relationships.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and stakeholder management.
  • Demonstrated ability showing strong decision making skills required.
  • High level of competency with MS Office, IVARA, Oracle, P6, Power BI, and MS Project.
  • Strong financial budgeting, forecasting, and analysis skills.
  • The following skills are also considered as assets:

  • In-depth knowledge of the Customer Connection Guide and Electricity Operations’ Terms and Conditions for Connection and Access Service.
  • P. Eng or P.L. Eng
  • Risk management certification.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams.
