Job Description

Consultation/ Advisory
oSupport ongoing activities related to privacy and compliance with privacy legislation and best practices, with a focus on privacy in virtual healthcare across the organization.
oWork with innovators across the organization to incorporate needs and feedback on deliverables and gaps that hinder adoption of safe virtual care practices.
oProvide knowledge transfer across organizational teams relating to virtual care privacy policies and practices.
oIdentify best practices; recommends and refines risk and privacy policies, procedures and practices with respect to Women’s Virtual Care Models and WCH electronic systems as well as WCH participation in shared systems.
oProactively works within the team to ensure WCH’s privacy policies and training instruments and content are relevant and continue to meet funder, partner and client expectations, legal and industry standards
Operational
oResolve questions and concerns related to privacy and supporting privacy functions (privacy incident investigations; communicating privacy best practices and education; assists in development of privacy policy and guidance documents; system privacy audits; gathers and analyzes privacy operations data for reports, etc.).
oSupport Privacy Impact Assessments as required.
oAs required, supports regular privacy audits, summarizes findings and recommends corrective action.
oSupports investigations work with respect to privacy complaints, incidents or breaches.
oConduct contract/agreement reviews related to virtual care/digital health services to ensure compliance with applicable legislation.
oProvides staff training and education, prepares communications/alerts and updates intranet/website content.
Training/ Education
oProvides privacy guidance and advisory services to organization leadership in the development, maintenance and implementation of policies, procedures and standards pertaining to risk, privacy and data security that is reflective of current organizational practices and in compliance with legislative requirements.
oProvides staff training and education, prepares communications/alerts and updates intranet/website content.

Qualifications

•Undergraduate degree in Health Information Management, Technology, Privacy, Access and Information Management or other related field required.
•Certified Information Privacy Professional/Canada or Certified Information Privacy Technologist designation preferred
•A minimum of three to five years recent related experience in privacy, preferably in healthcare or post-secondary setting.
•Demonstrated experience and knowledge in applying privacy laws, guidance and best practices to virtual /digital healthcare, such as health care application integration with the electronic medical record or standalone applications/systems.
•Strong understanding of applied risk and privacy principles in a virtual healthcare setting.
•Experience in privacy with auditing, investigations, analysis, policy and procedures development.
•Experience conducting and/or reviewing Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), addressing findings and implementing risk mitigation strategies.
•Working knowledge and expertise relevant legislation including PHIPA, , FIPPA, Public Hospitals Act and Health Care Consent Act.
•Experience supporting incident/breach management.
•Experience in supporting the development and implementation of policy documents and training content.
