Title: Analyst/Developer - Specialty - 5
Contract Length: 3 months (with potential to be extended based on performance and funding)
Location: WFH (Downtown Toronto, if Covid-19 restrictions clear, tbd)
Story Behind the Need:
Business Group: API Architecture & Engineering is seeking an experienced API Developer to support expose Automotive Finance APIs on the API Edgegateway platform so the 3rd-party vendors can easily evaluate and consume Scotiabank exposed Automotive Finance APIs securely. This project is in production already from platform perspective, APIs are still to be in production.
Candidate Value Proposition: The successful candidate will be working with the team building API management platform for the Bank which will not only provide them with many new opportunities to learn but will also be working with industry leading vendor such as Google.
Typical Day in the Role:
- Analyze highly complex business requirements; generate technical specifications to design or redesign complex software components and applications
- Act as an expert technical resource for modeling, simulation and analysis efforts
- Leverage industry best practices to design, test, implement and support a solution
- Assure quality security and compliance requirements are met for supported area
- Be flexible and thrive in an evolving environment
- Adapt to change quickly and adjust work accordingly in a positive
- Hands on coding with Node.js
- Attend Daily Scrum meetings
- Collaborate with other team members
Must Have Skills:

Java (Java 8 – 4+ years of hands on experience) – 7+ years of hands on experience

Restful API / OAuth2 (building APIs ) – 5+ years of hands on experience

Agile experience (understand the practices & methodologies) – 3+ years of hands on experience

Spring Boot – 1+ years of hands on experience

Groovy – 1+ year of hands on experience

Shell Scripting - 1+ year of hands on experience

Nice to have Skills:

Recent relevant Financial Industry Experience

Proficiency in MS Office (extended knowledge of MS Excel is preferred)

Knowledge of Azure, GCP, Docker, Splunk, Dynatrace is an asset

Soft Skills:
- Strong communication skills – Written (technical documentation) & Verbal (working with multiple teams)
- Flexibility supporting multiple teams at once as opposed to just one team or project
Additional Notes:
- An ideal candidate is a Senior Java Developer with 3 to 5 years of experience in designing and developing using the advance features of Spring Boot and Spring projects, and Java.
- Candidate must have experience working in a fast-paced environment using Agile methodologies for developing software
- Experience with required technologies and skills must have been used in their most recent 2 roles/projects
-Will be doing hands on coding/tooling
