York University is embarking on a multi-year transformation of its student administrative system. The Student System Renewal Program (SSRP) will change from its current enterprise resource planning (ERP) tool, to a vendor-driven solution. This solution will support faculty and staff to achieve their academic and administrative needs and to support students to easily perform core administrative functions. The SSRP will transform how York interacts and works to facilitate student, faculty, and staff success through the student’s educational journey creating a cohesive, integrated experience for all users. The University has made a significant financial investment in this program as it will involve and impact the entire university community and will provide transformed business processes and system infrastructure to support the fundamental academic mission of the university. York's Vision for Service Excellence involves two major programs to improve services for Students, Faculty, and Staff: Student System Renewal Program and Service Excellence Program. These two programs work together collaboratively to coordinate the organizational change activities in support of York’s University Academic Plan (UAP).
In advancing the Division of Students’ vision as Partners in Student Success reporting to the Program Director, SSRP, the Director, OCM will provide senior level strategic management and guidance on change strategies, plans and activities that meet the program's overall success, sustaining new operational models and systems and lead engaging the York community.
The successful incumbent will provide best-practice change methodology guidance and recommendations to Executive Sponsors, Program Sponsors, Program Director, project team members and university stakeholders and will play a leadership role in building greater capacity throughout the University organization to manage and lead change related to SSRP.
The Director, OCM is rresponsible for being fully knowledgeable of all York human resource related policies and practices and appropriate collective agreement(s) and will work to assess the organization's culture, capacity, labour relations environment and readiness for change and will develop and implement strategies that will support the employees and the organization to effectively adjust to new ways of working.
The Director will provide strategic communications advice, counsel and planning to Service Excellence and SSRP leadership to boost alignment, organizational synergy and employee morale.
The position will work closely with a broad range of stakeholders and provide strategic thinking advice and planning to project leaders and managers. Will work closely with the Director, Business Transformation and the Director, Architecture and Systems Transformation to procure the main SIS product, but will be deeply engaged in the procurement of the new CRM and all other elements of SSRP. They will be a key part of the evaluation, assessment, implementation and change process from start to finish of each of the elements of the SSRP. The incumbent will need to work in partnership with existing organizational change resources across the university along with colleagues in central HR to support staff development and learning.
The Director leads a team of change management, communications, organizational learning and organizational design professionals in executing the multi-dimensional SSRP change strategy and is a contributing member on other university-wide change initiatives.
