L3 Technologies MAS, located in Cold Lake (AB) , is a subsidiary of L3Harris Technologies, Inc. As Lead Structural Engineering, Liaison Level 5 at L3 MAS you will: CF-18 liaison engineer based at Cold Lake. The main mandate is to: supervise the preparation of the anomalies / damage / wear observed by the inspectors and maintenance technicians at Cold Lake; evaluate and participate in the design of fixes; validate through simple constraint analyses the viability of the proposed repairs; as well as to ensure reparation satisfaction in terms of airworthiness and customer requests. These tasks are in close relationship with engineers and airworthiness authorities in Mirabel. The role also includes a large portion of liaison and support to technicians and supervisors on the floor. Essential Functions:
Read and understand manufacturing and modification drawings;
Investigate faulty or damaged components and assemblies to determine their causes;
Design repair solutions to restore "fit, form and function" as well as the structural integrity of the damaged structure;
Interpret and integrate data, loading modes and safety factors according to established specifications and standards (MIL-STD, PS or others), and validate design criteria;
Analyze, using conventional calculation methods, the materials strength (metallic and composite);
Participate in the airworthiness principles (classify or categorize damage (minor / major), sign minor damages as a navigability delegate;
Support activities related to the incorporation of repairs and modifications;
Act as an intermediary with the managers (engineering, technicians, etc), the aircraft maintenance / repair team and the engineering team for any derogation issues.
Validate the data provided by the inspectors and supervise the preparation of non-conformity reports (DRED);
Be a technical expert in the field of the CF-18 Liaison with MRB ENG and Airworthiness (DT) signing authorities.
Have a good knowledge of RCAF and DTAES organizations in order to be able to guide technical discussions with the customer and the airworthiness authorities.
Master the processes relating to liaison engineering, design and development of modifications and fleet management, in order to ensure compliance and be able to participate in their improvement.
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aeronautics or equivalent experience required;
Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in aeronautics required: preferably in stress analysis;
Experience on the CF-18 platform is an significant asset;
Experience as an MRB Eng and with Airworthiness principles are an asset;
Master one or more of the following software:MSOffice, CATIA (or Autocad) and / or Matlab;
Knowledge of Patran / Nastran is an asset
Ability to read drawings;
Bilingualism is an asset (French and English);
Experience with military and / or military specifications and standards.
Experience in manufacturing / repairing composite materials an asset;
Experience in production or maintenance environment required;
Hold a NATO Secret security clearance or be eligible for this rating on short notice.
Soft skill: being a team player, resourceful, organized, being capable to prioritize in a short delay environment, customer oriented, have strong problem solving skills, ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
Must be eligible for registration to the Controlled Goods Program ;
Must be eligible to obtaining and maintaining the government of Canada’s “Reliability” status and Level 2 (Secret) security clearance;
