As a member of our DHT team, you’ll be immersed in an exciting, agile, and dynamic high-growth environment, where you’ll be empowered to excel and where taking informed risks are rewarded. As a Development DBA, you will be largely responsible for delivering top-notch database solutions to the organization. Some of the primary responsibilities of this role would include supporting the application development lifecycle, owning, tracking and resolving database code related bugs reported, reviewing performance-related reports to ensure performance-related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs and working closely with software engineering and architecture to come up with effective database logic while providing strategic solutions to recurring problems. Let's talk about responsibilities: Collaborates with the Product Development teams to create performant, well-architected database solutions that will stand up to rapid growth and scalability needs. Identifies database requirements by interviewing customers; analyzing department applications, programming, and operations; evaluating existing systems and designing proposed systems. Recommends solutions by defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, and database security; understanding data modeling. Maintains database performance by calculating optimum values for database parameters; Supports database functions by designing and coding utilities. Tunes performance of existing SQL Code and transactions; performing T-SQL development and creating front end dashboards using SSRS, SSIS, and other reporting tools. Provides ongoing assessment of database performance and identifies problem areas. Builds, edits, and maintains test data by defining new procedures or following established procedures. Plays a key role on critical projects such as SQL Server upgrades, database migrations, application enhancement, performance testing, High Availability Solutions, and storage upgrades. Prepares users by conducting training; providing information; resolving problems. Provides information by answering questions and requests. Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies. Owning, tracking and resolving database-related incidents and requests. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks and projects as needed. Let's talk about qualifications and experience: Degree/Diploma in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent experience. 4+ years’ experience with Database Administration. Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems. 3+ years’ experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools. Understanding of NoSQL concepts and components. Experience with NoSQL considered to be a strong asset. In-Depth knowledge of database performance metrics and how to extract those metrics from database metadata. Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts; t-SQL, PowerShell, etc. Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics. MSSQL and/or AWS Certification are an asset. Solid understanding of configuring and deploying solutions in AWS is an asset. Flexibility in scheduling with a willingness to work extra non-standard hours as required. Ability to work well within a multi-disciplinary team structure, but also independently. Ability to meet agreed deadlines, with demonstrable productivity.
