Athabasca University is hiring an academic coordinator with expertise in Psychology. Special knowledge in the following fields would be a definite asset: research methods, intelligence and psychological testing, motivation and emotion, human development, personality theory, research, and assessment, stress and coping, assessment and treatment of psychological disorders, social behaviour, theories and applications of Pavlovian and Operant conditioning and generalization, discrimination, and stimulus control, schedules of reinforcement, and limits of learning (e.g., remembering and forgetting).
A minimum of a Master's degree in Psychology is required; a PhD is preferred. Experience in distance learning and familiarity with digital teaching technologies would also be preferred assets. The Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the teaching, administration and maintenance of Athabasca University's PSYC 290: General Psychology and PSYC 387: Learning. Coordinator duties include supervising and monitoring the performance of course tutors (who teach and consult with students and mark their assignments), the handling of student issues as they are brought forward by students, tutors, or the institution (e.g. grade appeals, course credit challenges, academic misconduct cases, transfer credit requests), and service to the Centre for Social Sciences (e.g. attending meetings held by the Centre and by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences).
