Description:
As a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist I, you will perform procedures in both the laboratory and in diagnostic imaging, typically in rural sites. You will work as a member of the inter-professional team and be responsible for collecting and analyzing biological specimens, conducting X-ray examinations, ECGs and reporting results. Your responsibilities include preparing patients, venipuncture and micropuncture, routine equipment maintenance, maintaining supplies and performing quality control procedures as required.
Completion of diploma from an accredited program in Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology (CLXT). Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologists (ACCLXT).
Additional Required Qualifications:Recent, relevant experience as a Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologist performing procedures in a core laboratory and general diagnostic imaging Laboratory experience includes hematology, expanded chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, specimen collection, preparation and referral. Recent cardiology experience including ECG and Holter Monitor. The ability to effectively communicate in English and provide excellent customer service is essential. Good organizational skills and ability to assume responsibility required. Good interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work independently as well as promote good teamwork is required. Demonstrated initiative, good judgment, and attention to detail essential. Ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations prioritizing workload, demonstrating tact and courtesy in dealing with patients, staff, and physicians required. Practices effective radiation protection, infection control, and safety techniques as applicable. Proficient computer skills required. Ability to interpret, explain and apply applicable legislation, standards, policies and procedures, and maintain patient confidentiality. Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification. Demonstrated desire and actions to further own knowledge relating to profession. Receptive to new ideas and change. An excellent attendance record, reliability and personal suitability must be demonstrated through your employment references.
Preferred Qualifications:Familiar with Sysmex XN-L550, ACL Elite Pro, Ortho Vitros XT3400, Clinitek Advantus, I-Stat andTriage Meter. Recent experience with Muse, Cardioday, Agfa PACS, and Meditech LIS.
