Reporting to the Chief Engineer & Assistant Manager on a 24-hour rotating shift basis, the 4th class Power Engineer troubleshoots, maintains and repairs hospital equipment and carries out maintenance and repair work on equipment, buildings and systems as directed by his/her supervisor. Responsible for all building operations and maintenance aspects of the facility during off-hours. Responsible for the operation and monitoring of the boiler and refrigeration plants, including all associated systems and equipment. Snow removal included.
• Grade 12/GED required.
• Five years’ experience preferred, after obtaining Fourth Class certificate in operation and maintenance of a high pressure steam plant.
• If the above is not available we will consider: two year' experience after obtaining Fourth Class certificate in operation and maintenance of a high pressure steam plant.
• Fourth Class Standardized Power Engineers certificate from the NS Department of Labour and Advanced Education
• Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.
