The Opportunity:
Support the Product Development and Architecture teams throughout the development and maintenance of new product, black line and working drawing sets for new homes with a focus on quality, consistency, innovation and sustainability.

What you’ll be responsible for day to day:

  • Coordinate with external consultants, manufacturers and trades to produce and refine construction drawings and / or contract documents for various housing typologies (low-rise, mid-rise, high-rise & mixed use);
  • Coordinate truss, floor, mechanical, structural engineering drawings
  • Coordinate sitings process with civil engineer and control architect
  • Coordinate blackline process includes floor plans, elevations & optional flex plans
  • Coordinate internal stakeholder feedback with consultant team and coordinate the production of all construction drawings based on the parameters set by the PD process and specifically, the Manager of Standards and Specifications.
  • Ensure contract documents match design drawings and marketing/sales collateral;
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to address issues that arise during construction and coordinate recurring issues and areas of improvement with Product Development team in the interest of eliminating issues through future design drawings avancement;
  • Conduct periodic site reviews for conformity to plans, applicable codes and Minto standards, in coordination with MasterCare and Construction departments;
  • Distribute, track & report on milestone deliverables (i.e. 25% working drawing set, 50% permit set, etc.);
  • Process & coordinate design/contract document changes with consultants & construction teams
  • Work with suppliers and manufacturers in sourcing new and innovative materials, systems & products;
  • Assist in developing and maintaining an architectural library of design & construction details and standards;
  • Participate in special projects as required;
  • Other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, as requested by management.

    • Who we’re looking for:

    Education: A Post-Secondary Education, either a College Diploma (Architectural Technology) or University Degree in Architecture

    Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of previous architectural experience. (An equivalent level of combined education and experience will be considered.)

    Specialized Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
    • Knowledge of the OBC (Ontario Building Code)
    • Knowledge of residential low-rise buildings and of mixed use residential mid-rise and high-rise building systems/assemblies and construction methodologies
    • AutoCAD
    • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Outlook
    • Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat are an asset
    • Knowledge of Energy Star and LEED is an asset
