If you answered yes to both questions, then we may have an opportunity that works for you. We are actively seeking an ISA Certified Arborist to join our growing ecological services team. The successful applicant will work with a team of biologists / ecologists assisting with field work, providing arborist expertise and undertaking environmental monitoring duties during construction, as required. This position will require ISA Certification as an Arborist. Duties: Duties will generally include leading detailed tree assessments and preparing arborist reports and tree protection drawings. This individual would also be expected to assist with other ecological field work, provide input into work plans and proposals, and undertake environmental monitoring work during construction as required. Qualifications: An undergraduate degree in forestry, biology, ecology, environmental Science or related field. An advanced degree in a related field would be considered an asset; ISA certification as an Arborist; Tree Risk Assessment Qualified; Registered Professional Forester designation would be considered an asset; Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CISEC) or CISEC-IT would be considered an asset; Certified as a Butternut Health Assessor considered an asset; Experience with the Endangered Species Act (2007) considered an asset; Experience undertaking tree assessments, tree inventories, preparing tree preservation plans and tree protection drawings; Experience assessing the effectiveness of environmental mitigation measures; Experience reading contract plans and contract tender special provisions; Experience preparing daily environmental inspection reports; Strong communication, organization and interpersonal skills; Valid driver’s license with access to own vehicle a necessity.
