Manager Technical Marketing & Product Strategy (IOC) • Amazing opportunity with our iron ore pellet business • Leadership role with high visibility among key internal and external stakeholders • Lead our Product and Technical Marketing Strategy About the role IOC is a leading North American producer and exporter of premium iron ore pellets and high-grade concentrate with average iron grades greater than 66%. Our operations include a mine with five operational pits, a concentrator and a pelletizing plant located near Labrador City, in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. IOC is located in the region known as the “Labrador Trough”, an established basin with significant deposits for the supply of high-grade iron ore products. We are looking for a leader to be our Manager Technical Marketing & Product Strategy, to strategise, lead and connect our Rio Tinto Iron Ore of Canada operations to its global customer base in BF and DR sector. This is a fantastic opportunity for a techno-commercial driven professional, who prides in their experience and skillsets to connect and forge the solutions in answering the dilemma, synergies, and collaboration between our commercial and operations stakeholders. Working within the IOC team and reporting to the General Manager Sales and Marketing IOC, you will be: Team Management: Providing leadership – training and development of direct reports and other team members across commercial.Creating a HSE culture ensuring all activities comply with Rio Tinto standards internally and externally.Ensuring the team adhere to Way we Work and compliance requirements.Assigning, supervising, and coaching team members to achieve performance excellence. Technical marketing Maintaining current commercial relationships and generating business via marketing and promotion of IOC product within existing and potential new customers, including blast furnace and direct reduction routes, in tandem to be a technical marketing representative of our Pilbara products in the Atlantic markets. Addressing together with operations any complaints about IOC products. Supporting sales to place IOC products in customers and markets that generate the best profitability for the business. Provide input to pricing decisions. Support the implementation of the Sales and Marketing strategy and business strategy of IOC via technical input, quality data and value in use analysis. Calculating the Value in use of IOC products to support pricing and contract negations. Maintaining and developing new Value in use tools. Support via technical expert advice the sales of Pilbara products in Europe. Represent Rio Tinto on international quality standards and international industry bodies. Product strategy Bring the customer feedback to the commercial, the operations and the technical teams to inform commercial decisions, stimulate a rich dialogue internally about the commercial strategy, quality, process control and product improvements.Liaise with sales and assets to define the product mix alternatives aiming at maximizing business profitability in the short, medium and long terms. Lead & support product R&D/new products development and quality initiatives driving higher value to IOC. Actively support the IOC business strategy, including potential synergies with other RTIO assets. Participating in green steel initiatives that present potential upside for IOC assets. About you To be successfully considered for this role, you will have: Relevant tertiary qualifications in a technical discipline including metallurgical/chemical/process/mining engineering, geology/metallurgy/chemistry/other geoscience or mathematics/physics. A minimum of 15 years combined operational and commercial experience in iron making/steel making. Proven leadership experience. Experience with customer engagements and working directly with steel mill on the use of iron ore products.Strong understanding of current and future development of the iron and steel industryA knowledge of iron ore suppliers/competitors, customers and other key stakeholders in the market Rigorous experience in market research and analysis. Demonstrated creation of value in a commercial organisation. Strong commercial acumen and the ability to interact at all levels of the organisation and with customers. Ability to manage external relationships and influence commercial and technical outcomes including at a senior level.
