Responsibilities: Equipment/System HSE Reviews Coordinates and participates in reviews on equipment prior to commissioning and operational turnover Establish a system to develop a list of deficiencies/punch list items related to HSE Signs off equipment/systems once actions are verified complete Monitor and track upcoming reviews to be completed, in-progress and fully completed Construction Audits and Tracking Conduct periodic audits of the general contractor’s safety program Conduct weekly joint walkthroughs of the construction site and provide feedback Other Duties as Assigned Assist in developing placards to show points of isolation for control of hazardous energy Ensure regulatory requirements (eg. Occupational Health & Safety Act, Industrial Regulations, Canadian Biosafety Standards, etc.) for the design and execution are met Ensure design conforms to corporate HSE standards and guides as well as local site policies and procedures Assist design team in applying safe and sustainable HSE solutions for identified risks Acts in a timely fashion to address and/or escalates significant high-risk items that require immediate attention Conduct and develop HSE training and procedures as required Qualifications: Minimum BSc or Engineering degree Minimum 5 years work related experience and knowledge of HSE regulations/standards/codes Data management including spreadsheets and databases is required Previous pharmaceutical manufacturing experience is an asset Biosafety principles and biocontainment knowledge is an asset Knowledge of workplace hazards and hierarchy of controls Knowledge of general safety principles Knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC systems, power generation, utilities) Ability to read 2D and plan layout drawings Strong problem solving and people skills Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
