Description:POSITION OVERVIEW As the Human Resources Business Partner for the Research Operations, Academic Partnerships, Office Services, and Finance workstreams, you will provide operational and strategic support in the areas of talent management, employee relations, performance management, benefits, employee engagement, and learning and development to meet team needs. ; You will proactively partner with all levels of management to enhance employee experience and drive organizational health by fostering a culture of inclusion, collaboration, transparency, integrity, and respect. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Serve as a primary point of contact for all inquiries regarding HR matters within assigned internal client workstreams;Provide strategic and tactical advice, coaching, and counseling support on employment-related issues across all HR disciplines including the interpretation and application of legislation, corporate policies, and Vector-specific programs and processes, ensuring both consistent application and operational compliance;Manage all aspects of talent acquisition needs within assigned work streams including supporting business case development and managing associated approval process, job description development and posting, recruitment processes including drafting of offer letters, reference and education checks, and facilitating immigration and relocation requirements (if applicable);Provide consultation and coaching to all levels of management to build and serve high performing, diverse and inclusive teams;Support all employees and associated processes within assigned client groups including but not limited to approved leaves, employment contracts, vacation compliance, employee relations, performance management, and corporate tracking and reporting; Champion and/or participate in key HR projects and initiatives in support of Vector’s vision, mission, strategy and culture; Design, develop and implement a robust, year-round professional development program for all employees inclusive of workshops, seminars, on a variety of talent development initiatives (e.g., EDI, Mentoring, Emerging Leaders); Lead all compliance-based HR Training initiatives including Code of Conduct, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and Health and Safety training sessions; In partnership with managers, provide a compelling and welcoming onboarding experience for all new hires within Vector; Sit as a member of the Vector Institute Joint Health and Safety Committee, taking a leadership role in ensuring the execution of committee initiatives; Act as the primary manager of the Vector Careers Inbox, responding to all incoming inquires within an appropriate period of time as well as tracking incoming researcher (i.e., Research Scientist, Faculty Member, and Vector Postdoctoral Fellow) applications; Benefits Administration: Respond to, and resolve benefits related inquiries from Vector employees; Monitor all vacation balances in BambooHR to ensure employees are taking the appropriate time-off in alignment with Vectors vacation policy and legislative requirements; Maintain Vector’s HRIS (BambooHR), HR’s VPortal page, as well as employee paper files and associated trackers, ensuring all accounts and details are up to date and accurate, and act as the primary manager of the Vector Careers Inbox; and, Other related duties as assigned. KEY SUCCESS MEASURES Assigned internal client work streams have a trusted partner for all talent and HR matters. Vector maintains compliance with all legislatively required training. Vector has a calendar of professional development offerings. New employees of Vector Hire receive a welcoming and comprehensive onboarding experience. Data integrity is maintained for all HRIS and paper employee files. Employee relations matters are resolved in an ethical fair manner in alignment with Vector’s policies and culture that mitigates risk for the Vector Institute. Talent acquisition and recruitment metrics and targets are achieved. PROFILE OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE Individual is a graduate from an HR post-grad diploma programme or holds an undergraduate degree in a related field; Individual has 3+ years of relevant HR generalist experience in complex, intellectually challenging, and fast-paced, high-growth organizations; CHRP designation or in progress; Individual has a demonstrated ability to manage a broad portfolio of HR responsibilities spanning a variety of HR functional areas, including Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Training, Compensation and Benefits Administration, HRIS & website administration in an organized manner, while maintaining a calm, professional demeanour; Demonstrated commitment to diversity, human rights, accessibility, and equity; Experience with managing international immigration preferred; Individual has highly effective client and candidate relationship management skills, working with stakeholders ranging from Executives to employees and world-class faculty and students; Individual is accurate and has highly developed and effective written and verbal communication skills; and, Individual is passionate about finding and successfully attracting great talent to Vector and in contributing to Vector’s success in achieving its mission and strategic objectives.
