Job OverviewThe Accident Benefits Representative I contributes to Wawanesa’s goal of delivering an exceptional and consistent claims service experience through the fair and equitable adjustment of first party injury claims. Job Responsibilities Provide exceptional customer service and support through the recovery process Interpret policy wordings, determine policy coverage, and ensure appropriate reserving Investigate and manage first party injury claims by telephone and correspondence Work collaboratively with vendors, healthcare providers, legal representatives, and others involved in the claims process Prepares files for litigation Liaise with customers, doctors, and rehabilitation specialists Proactively adjust claims from inception to completion Maintain accurate records based on company standards and policies within the claims system Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications 1 year of experience in the insurance industry College/University degree is preferred Working toward Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation Basic knowledge of medical terminology Exceptional customer service skills including empathy and concern for our customers Excellent communication skills, both written and oral Strong critical thinking, analytical, and decision-making skills Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in a fast paced, changing environment Detail oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry Strong negotiation skills Wawanesa provides its employees with a respectful, challenging and rewarding environment where they can maximize their potential while contributing to the company’s goals.
