We have partnered with a leading publicly listed real estate developer and asset manager to hire a VP, Development Accounting to lead the function across the organization. The VP, Development Accounting will be accountable for the of project-level accounting across upcoming office and/or residential development projects and maintain key relationships across the group and with external vendors. The VP, Development Accounting would have a minimum 10+ years in strategic financial and accounting management experience, including a minimum of 5 years of real estate development accounting and operations experience.Main Responsibilities:Act as a business partner with various stakeholders, including our Development Leads, Corporate Accounting & Taxation team and third-party partnersManage and support the team in their daily tasks and responsibilities, including the preparation of accurate and timely financial and management reporting, and effectively managing cash positionsActively collaborate with senior leadership to set vision, strategic direction and expectations for Development Accounting; participate in long-term strategy sessions with business partnersEstablish and maintain a strong internal control environment to ensure continuous compliance with various regulatory requirements, including IFRS, applicable federal and provincial laws and regulations for financial and tax reportingAct as a mentor and coach to support and motivate through effective goal setting, KPI management, and providing continuous feedback and support across the teamSet up appropriate accounting policies; research, interpret, document and implement accounting guidance on accounting issues and ensure appropriate accounting treatment of business transactions at all times.Proactively identify and implement process improvement opportunities; and other ad hoc initiatives.Experience & Skill Qualifications: CPA designation with strong IFRS knowledge considered an asset.Bachelor’s degree or Post-Secondary education in Business, Finance or related program.Minimum 10+ years in strategic financial and accounting management experience, including a minimum of 5 years of real estate development accounting and operations experienceStrong communication and interpersonal skills across all levels and functionsProven ability to effectively manage and thrive in a complex and fast paced environment.Excellent people management skills including coaching and driving performance to lead high performing teams.If interested, please apply online or get in touch with Feven on
