Job Summary Reporting to the Vice President, Patient Experience and Chief Nursing Officer, the Director of Patient Experience/Professional Practice/Research will lead the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of Southlake’s Patient Experience/Professional Practice and Research strategy. The Director of Patient Experience/Professional Practice/Research will work with all Southlake departments and leaders to transform the experience of patients, utilizing performance improvement strategies and tactics, as well as patient and employee engagement strategies to improve quality and safety. The Director of Patient Experience/Professional Practice/Research will have accountability and oversight for the following portfolios: Patient Experience, Patient Relations Office, Professional Practice, Research as well as Volunteer Resources, Ethics, and Diversity. The Director collaborates with other team members to ensure effective teamwork, implementation of the program's recommendations, achievement of the targeted outcomes and the effective and efficient use of resources with the program. Specifically, this role will align closely with the Quality, Risk and Patient Safety and Clinical Operations portfolio strategies. Qualifications •Master’s Degree in a regulated health discipline or equivalent required •A member in good standing with a Regulated Health Profession •A member of an affiliated Professional Association •Negotiation and conflict resolution training and experience required •Minimum of five (5) years recent experience in current related clinical and administrative experience preferred •Exemplifies the patient experience and is an inspiring, committed and customer oriented professional with experience in the health care sector •Strong knowledge of relevant health care legislation, including but not limited to, the Regulated Health Professionals Act and Public Hospital Act •Brings creativity, openness to new ideas with a continuous improvement perspective to the patient experience •Demonstrated excellence and capabilities in interpersonal, communication, customer service, analytical approach, teamwork, and leadership skills with ability to build meaningful connections and effective relationships, internally and externally •Agent of change with ability to envision new, innovative models of care, concepts, plan, energize, coach, encourage and support •Is collaborative, open and transparent with an ability to work with all health disciplines to achieve high quality and safe patient care •Has a passion for Southlake and the difference it makes in the lives of people every day Closing Statement At Southlake, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and accessible environment. Primary Responsibilities Leadership: •Together with the Vice President, Patient Experience, lead the transformation of the Patient Experience/Professional Practice/Research that further drives forward the vision, strategy and road map for Southlake Regional Health Centre •Champion the Patient Experience/Professional Practice/Research strategy with leading-edge, progressive, evidence based practice taking into account new and innovative opportunities •Establish trusting, collaborative and effective working relationships with colleagues, portfolio staff, union, physicians and formal and informal leaders alike •Embed a proactive, customer service culture, optimizing the patient experience, scope of practice and research throughout the organization, coaching and mentoring to nurture skills to the next level •Build strong relationships and teams to optimize resources and form effective collaborative relationships •Acts as a change agent and works collaboratively with colleagues to support Our People in embracing the Patient Experience System Transformation: •Plans, implements and elevates outcomes of work processes for areas of responsibility and direct reports •Applies principles and philosophy of continuous improvement to day-to-day work and practice •Overall fiscal responsibility for the areas of responsibility •Ensures the development, implementation and evaluation of programs which support department or program direction or are identified as a developmental need •Ensures the effective management of Patient Experience, Patient Relations Office, Professional Practice and Research •Participates in internal as well as external committees, as deemed appropriate Skills
