Description:What will I be doing? Assisting in all stages of project management, engineering and construction to support major expansion projects, environmental studies, and new, replacement, or enhanced physical infrastructure projects. Contributing to the control of selected complex, high-risk project elements from start to close-out to meet corporate commitments and ensure program and planning critical interfaces and program risks are effectively managed. Evaluating and reviewing consultant progress reports, level of effort estimates and change order scope narrative. Envisioning project scope of work; initiates, prepares, and presents agreements that govern the engagement of consultants for execution (i.e. terms of reference and subsequent addenda). Defining the need for concept, preliminary or detail design alternatives. Supporting the development of engineering estimates construction and contingency costs, and forecasts timeframes for project implementation, by defining project scope and terms of reference. Reviewing and developing design concept alternatives, standards, procedures, and consultant terms of reference. Reviewing and evaluating consultant studies, reports, design proposals, specifications and contract documents for compliance with Metrolinx policies, procedures and standards. What skills and qualifications do I need? Completion of a university degree in Engineering, Architecture or related field Understanding of project management principles to support the management of selected complex, high-risk projects from start to close-out under pressure to meet schedule and budgetary commitments Exposure to and or/experience in design, construction and commissioning of electrified commuter rail projects and related works is an asset. Knowledge of construction standards and procedures. Demonstrated experience and application of supervisory principles and practices to supervise internal and external staff. Working knowledge of contract law, the Occupational Health & Safety Act and the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. Excellent analytical ability, oral/written communication skills and presentation skills. Experience in Design-Build and/or Design-Build-Finance and Maintain contracts under an AFP model will be considered an asset. You must reside and be available in the Greater Toronto & Hamilton Area for a June 7th, 2021 start date. Accommodation: Accommodation will be provided throughout the hiring process, as required.
