The successful candidate will support our Canadian Prime Brokerage business which serves alternative investment clients, including hedge funds, regulated investment funds and other institutional investors. This role is accountable for managing the client relationship, supporting the operational processes related to margin and credit risk and working with the business group, risk management teams and other BMO teams to support the client. The successful candidate will serve as the central point of contact for Prime Brokerage clients and act as their liaison within the Prime Brokerage business and across BMO. Individuals in this role have a firm understanding of trading strategies deployed by hedge funds, their associated risks, and are subject matter experts in IIROC margin rules and enhanced margin offerings. Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities Build relationships with Prime Brokerage clients, including key decision makers, traders, and operational personnel, fostering a high level of trust Participate in client pitches, demos, and client meetings with the Line of Business, Corporate Banking and Risk Act as liaison between clients and other BMO teams, including Stock Loan, Trading Desks, Operations, Technology, Credit, Risk management, Compliance and Onboarding Oversee client accounts and support their brokerage business with BMO including financing, margin, execution, clearing, settlement, give-ups, corporate actions, restructurings, and reporting Engage in daily client communication and interactions Identify buy-in exposures and communicate to impacted clients (e.g. CNS, Reg SHO, and SEG) Accept client corporate action instructions and liaise with operational partners for timely processing while coordinating with Stock Loan and Entitlement teams when necessary Take ownership to ensure that client issues are resolved in a timely and accurate matter Coordinate physical security deposits (certificate and DRS) and assist with related issues Assist clients with transactional inquiries, collateral management, bespoke margin requests, hedge setups, margin calls, settlement issues, trade fails, trade matching, corporate actions, private securities, reporting, give-ups, AML/KYC reviews and updates to tax documentation Provide new and existing clients with tutorials on the Prime Brokerage web portal, technology, reports and explain relevant policies and procedures (e.g. margin calls, processing cut-offs) Review revenues, portfolio composition and balance trends by client across all products within Prime Brokerage and provide commentary to internal stakeholders on material or interesting changes and trends Perform daily credit reviews of client portfolios and work with clients and Line of Business to remediate credit limit breaches Ensuring that client positions, prices, and associated hedges are accurately reflected in their account Ensuring that margin requirements are charged in accordance with BMO and regulatory requirements are correct, including any processes and controls related to special or in-house requirements Review and issue client margin calls and work to ensure coverage within established deadlines Review and approve outbound wire requests ensuring sufficient margin and credit availability Validate that same-day collateral movements and trades are within allowable credit and margin limits Perform margin rate reviews with Risk and external margin vendors Key stakeholder escalation around significant margin calls, missed margin calls, or recurring or persistent margin issues Support credit and margin conversations internally with stakeholders such as Credit, Risk, and the Line of Business Education/Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree at a minimum. CFA Charter holder or progress toward is desirable. A minimum of five years prior brokerage experience in PB Client Service Strong understanding of Cash Prime Brokerage, broker/dealer operations, credit/margin, risk management, and IIROC margin rules Experience with Broadridge/ADP is an asset Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with external clients, business, operations and other disciplines within the firm.
