Description:About the role:We have a new and exciting opportunity to join our Development team in the role of Assistant Land and Acquisitions Manager. Reporting to the Head of Land and Acquisitions, this role will support in project managing the Empty Homes and Open Market Acquisitions (EH/OHA) programme and assisting in the identification and delivery of strategic land opportunities, ensuring the affordable homes programme is delivered through a forward programme and land bank. In this key role you will ensure the highest possible quality of product overseeing the purchase of EH/OMA properties and assisting in the selection, management and direction of external contractors to deliver the refurbishment works. You will coordinate the handover of properties ensuring that EH/OHA is delivered in accordance with Homes England Compliance Audit Requirements. To ensure that properties are acquired in a timely and compliant manner, you will effectively manage process from acquisition through to practical completion whilst also preparing grant bids and drawing down grant. You will be expected to closely monitor projects to track performance against agreed objectives and ensure that cashflow and budgeting is on track. On a strategic level, you will assist the Head of Land and Acquisitions to identify development opportunities to assist in the delivery of the forward Delivery Plan. You will take an active role in the appraisal process and formulate land and development bids and tenders. What we are looking for:The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar role and sound knowledge of the land market in the North East. They will have an understanding of the commercial aspects and development pressures relating to housing development, as well as awareness of the current/future challenges and legislation in the housing sector. They will have a proven track record of managing multiple projects and their budgets successfully, in accordance with compliance requirements. In order to quickly build rapport with customers and key stakeholders, they will be an excellent communicator, and be a self-motivated and proactive member of the team. To achieve targets and deadlines, they must be able to plan, manage and effectively prioritise their workload to ensure the very best quality product is delivered. They will display a passion for the programme and demonstrate an innovative and imaginative approach to how they work. This is a fast-paced role that requires rigour, an eye for detail and excellent organisational skills to ensure the delivery of the programme.
