Summary:The main function of the Associate role is to support the Credit Division for the Americas (“CDA”) and provide credit coverage for clients in the General Industries, Oil & Gas, Power & Utility, Mining, and Engineering & Construction industries in Canada and the US.Accountabilities/Responsibilities:General Account Maintenance Support the management of a commercial loan portfolio within a segment of an industry vertical Perform ongoing due diligence and regularly scheduled evaluations of their assigned loan portfolio, which is subject to change relative to the client portfolioSupport the preparation of detailed credit analyses and required credit applications in accordance with and pursuant to policy, including the evaluation of corporate, regulatory and industry risk, historical operating performance, projected operating performance and capital structure Ensure timely coordination and communication of account information across various constituencies throughout the organization Maintain a thorough understanding of macro-level country/risk factors Maintain current knowledge of relevant industries, including all current events pertaining to an assigned portfolio utilizing internal and external sources For assigned accounts, provide oversight of covenant compliance, facility closing due diligence, legal documentation and ongoing monitoring of credit conditions, if any Attend customer and bank meetings when appropriate Special projects as assigned Advanced Credit/Underwriting Solutions:Work within a deal team environment (with Global Relationship Management (GRM), Syndications & Mitsubishi UFJ Securities) supporting Senior PM’s in the development and analysis of financing structures/strategies to support/identify LBO, M&A and Corporate re-capitalization opportunities Prescreen proposed transactions to identify critical structural issues and risks, balancing institutional policy with business development needsWork on structured credit transactions (including Financial Solution opportunities, securitizations, specialized leasing transactions, and up-tier proposals) Understand and maintain base industry knowledge of industries represented in the portfolio, including technical aspects, regulatory issues and unique credit product activity Policy and Deal Advocacy: Evaluate and establish appropriate ratings for transactions and correlate appropriate exposure levels at both the transaction and group levelEnsure compliance with applicable external regulatory requirementsEnsure compliance with applicable internal policies and procedural requirements Perform other duties/ projects as assigned.Experience:3-5 years of substantive portfolio management, corporate credit, and/or other similar experience with an emphasis on credit and analytical experienceCompletion of a formal credit-training program at a money center bank is preferredAdvanced financial modeling skills are required, including those required for credit applications and Quarterly Credit Watch presentations Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint required Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills Strong analytical, financial, and balanced decision-making skillsEducation:Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, or related disciplineCFA is an asset Notice: The above information on this job description has been described to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by incumbents.
