Description:STA220H1F L5101 The Practice of Statistics I - An introductory course in statistical concepts and methods, emphasizing exploratory data analysis for univariate and bivariate data, sampling and experimental designs, basic probability models, estimation and tests of hypothesis in one-sample and comparative two-sample studies. A statistical computing package is used but no prior computing experience is assumed. Note: STA220H1 does not count as a distribution requirement course. Estimated Course Enrolment Up to 200 Estimated TA Support 200 hours The availability of TA support is contingent on class enrolment and class size. Schedule Tuesdays 6:00 – 9:00 pm and Thursdays 6:00 – 9:00 pm This course will be offered Online Synchronous Tutorial N/A Sessional Dates May 1, 2021 to June 30, 2021 Salary $8,489.67 for Sessional Lecturer I; $8,869.25 for Sessional Lecturer I Long Term; $9085.58 for Sessional Lecturer II; $9301.90 for Sessional Lecturer III Qualifications: Minimum Master’s degree required, PhD preferred in Statistics, Applied Statistics, Actuarial Science, Biostatistics or related discipline. Prior experience teaching at the university level. Prior experience teaching STA220 or a similar course an asset. Description of duties: Teaching; setting and invigilating term tests and final examinations; reporting final grades; counseling students; supervising teaching assistant(s).
