In this hands-on Lead Role, you will be able to use your extraordinary development skills and learn and grow in technologies like Cloud, Big Data, search engines, and recommendation systems. You would be responsible for the analysis, definition, design, implementation, and project oversight of NewsRoom systems. As a team member, you will interpret business requirements and delegate development work to team members. You will have the opportunity to work with partner teams, including but not limited to Product Management, Quality Assurance, Project Management, Content Operations, and Operations Support. Active participation is required in daily and weekly status meetings. You should possess the ability to identify solutions for complex problems, as well as have the desire to attain domain knowledge of the products you build and support. About the RoleAs a Lead Software Engineer, you will: Show Leadership – Lead and participate in technical design reviews, functional specification reviews, and commit to developing project estimates, scheduling, test plans, and code reviews.Build and Develop – Ensure consistency with architectural standards for assigned projects, active application development, migrate applications to cloud, create and maintain unit tests.Be a Team Player – work in a collaborative team-oriented environment, share information, value diverse ideas, partner with cross-functional and remote teamsBe Curious & Innovative – continuously update yourself with next-generation technology, development tools, and contribute to process development practicesBe an Agile Person – Actively determine and resolve potential problems/issues including authoring of technical specifications. Work on multiple projects and manage time effectively, assessing risk and dependencies.Be an Effective Communicator – Regularly inform the manager or team lead on the progress of the project, identifying risks early in the process. Effectively communicate with project partners of varying degrees of technical knowledge.Be collaborative - Collaborate with QA team on test automation, work with Continuous Integration Environments and automated deployment tools and provide support to the Operations support team.Take Ownership – responsible for performance, reliability, and implement changes for improving the efficiency of a technical component. Mentor junior team members.About YouYou’re a fit for the role of Lead Software Engineer if you have: Basic qualifications:Over 6 years of software development experience with Java2+ years experience leading teams of 3 or more developers1+ years experience with ElasticsearchFamiliar with Software Security Best PracticesStrong knowledge and practical experience in Spring, Spring Boot, AWSExperience designing solutions based on microservices methodologiesExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong leadership and ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences.Relational and NoSQL databases, e.g. Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch.
