You’re an experienced nurse and clinical educator with a passion for providing senior care. An interesting, challenging, and continually-changing field, you love teaching and coaching other healthcare professionals in how to best care for patients who are more than their sometimes complex diagnosis – people with life experiences, stories to tell, children and grandchildren. Alberta Health Services (AHS) is currently seeking a Senior’s Health Instructor – Clinical Educator to provide staff working in home care, assistive living, and long term care with the up-to-date knowledge and skills required for the job. Drawing upon your nursing background, you’ll develop, coordinate, facilitate, and deliver training. Partnering with other clinical educators and healthcare professionals from other portfolios, you’ll develop learning materials for healthcare professionals in senior care. As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).Additional Required Qualifications:
Strong working knowledge of Continuing Care Health Service Standards (CCHSS). Strong computer knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a virtual team.Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years rural nursing experience with at least 2 years recent experience in Home Care and/or LTC.Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, a combination of education and experience may be considered.Minimum of 2 years teaching experience, preferably with an adult focus in a health care setting.
