Responsibilities: Prepare & coordinate estimates for tenders Prepare complete quantity takeoff based on scope of work Monitor all changes in scope during the estimate period Select vendors and/or subcontractors and determine costs Consult with vendors and clients to discuss alternate approved materials Search, analyze & communicate options for the most effective means & methods of construction Attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality and availability of materials Work with Project Managers and Superintendents on awarded contracts – estimating extra work items, change orders & credits Upon project completion, meet with Project Manager, Site Superintendent & Foreman to discuss positive and negative aspects of project to determine areas for improvement Compile budget and crew summaries Perform additional assignments per management’s direction Requirements: 5-10 years of experience in a civil estimating role Construction, design, and finance experience Technical knowledge and experience bidding design build projects Excellent Communication skills – written and verbal Estimating Software experience; Heavy Bid, P6/Primevera Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Suite (Project, Word, Excel and Outlook) Willingness to guide and or mentor junior estimators Headquartered in downtown Vancouver and serving clients nationally, MatchBox is a recruitment and solutions firm that specializes in the fields of Information Technology, Engineering & Technical, Real Estate & Construction, and Accounting & Finance.
