ABOUT THE ROLEWe are seeking a motivated and multitask-oriented individual who is flexible and work well in a team environment to fill the full-time permanent position of Protective Services Officer, reporting directly to the Protective Services Manager. The Protective Services Officer is responsible for working to enhance community standards with a focus on public safety and security, with risks to the community considered a threat. From risk assessment to service delivery, we work in partnership with the RCMP, local businesses, and organizations to provide integrated solutions to security challenges. We make a difference by helping our people live, work and play in safe and secure environment where they can thrive and prosper.This is a permanent full-time position and is based on seventy-five (84) hours bi-weekly working 7 days on and 7 days off and will include a mix of day shifts and night shifts. It is desirable for the position if the successful candidate has held a Peace Officer Level 1 position or is eligible to obtain a Level 1 Peace Officer status for future initiatives. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Monitoring of community and industrial parks as well as traditional land areas;By-law enforcement and support including animal control;Main community building and capital asset patrol;Fire-sprinkler system monitor watch;Security camera monitoring and support;Cleaning work areas and vehicles before leaving shift;Recording witness and victim statements;Observation and reporting of any unlawful activity;Control of access to premises being protected; South and North Shop, Houses under construction;Operate a company vehicle for work related purposes;Maintain professional standards of FMFN by following the policies and procedure;Neutralize situations calmly with tact and common senseOther duties shall be assigned as requiredKEY REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or equivalent – minimum. Post-Secondary education is preferred;Ability to pass a Vulnerable Persons Sector clearance and a Police Criminal Record Clearance; Must be capable of obtaining an Alberta Security Guard License; Emergency First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate;CSTS and WHMIS; H2S Alive;Good physical fitness to move with ease throughout - sitting, standing, walking intervals;Prior experience as a Peace Officer, Police Officer, Bylaw Officer, or Fire Fighter/EMS would be an asset;Extensive Experience working in a First Nations community including knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions and values is considered an assetValid class 5 Driver’s License & Clean Driver’s Abstract RequiredAbility to speak, read and write Cree and/or Dene considered an asset Successful candidate will be required to live in (or relocate to) Fort McMurray, Alberta
