To learn more about Staples Business Advantage visit us at: PURPOSE OF ROLE This position manages the Contract Furniture Project Coordinator personnel nationally to provide service levels consistent with the company’s defined common procedures and best practices. Manage work load leveling, troubleshoot and resolve project / operational issues. Oversees the Contract Furniture Project team responsible for developing and implementing furniture project plans for successful and profitable project execution, ensuring timelines and budgets are met, coordination of on-site supervision of installation and working closely with installation supervisors, contractors and other trades to ensure project progresses according to plan, proactively manage punch-list resolution and final close out of project. Works closely with Furniture Sales Operations Sr. Manager and Furniture Director to improve operating efficiencies and process improvement opportunities. Execute and implement business strategies. Train and engage personnel on streamlining and continuously improving processes. Coach and develop associates to strive for and achieve operational excellence. KEY RESPONSABILITES Responsible for training, discipline and performance appraisals of employees. Develop performance objectives and monitor performance against objectives. Develop performance improvement plans as needed, monitor and supervise overall performance of individuals. Manages work input and output and ensure efficient workflow with minimal errors and optimal production. Analyze business requirements for overflow capacity in design and project coordination and build fact-based recommendations for the organizational approach for each discipline. Oversees the team’s coordination of project plans for successful and profitable project execution, ensuring timelines and budgets are met, and proactive management of deficiency resolution and final project close-out performed by the Project Coordinator associates nationally. Troubleshoots and directs team in resolving project order/installation issues and problems in a timely manner. Manages work load of personnel, leveling and re-assigning as required to ensure timely project billing and final close-out. Oversees the project tracking and forecasting activities nationally performed by the Furniture Proposal Specialists. Oversees the demo and mock up process managed by the project team ensuring vendor’s products are expedited and installed to meet the customer’s timelines for evaluation and trade shows. Responsible for hiring, training, and developing highly competent staff. Provides guidance on personnel goals and objectives through clear, effective, timely and constructive feedback to employees. Motivates and coaches team to perform with excellence and attention to detail. Conducts weekly and monthly meetings with the team to keep abreast and manage work input and output, ensure teams are meeting deadlines, solicit opportunities for improvement, and in general provide overall management guidance and direction on work process, issues and corrective action. Recommend and work with Furniture Sales Operations Manager/Director to develop and provide key performance indicator reports on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis as determined by management. Implement measurable goals and performance tracking programs and review regularly with staff and management. Actively participates in Business Interiors by Staples scholarship program and design events nationally, promoting the business and networking with focus groups. Troubleshoot business issues, develop and implement corrective action plans. Communicate plans with appropriate parties. Engage field support resources as appropriate on relevant issues. Participates in Corporate or National process improvement teams or councils, provides recommendations and modifications to operating policies and procedures, assist with training and implementation to attain greater profitability and efficiency in work. Develops and maintains strong relationships with the Business Interiors by Staples preferred vendor partners, operations, internal departmental management and staff, national support teams and furniture leadership. Develops and maintains strong internal and external customer relationships. Conducts CSAT surveys with internal and external customer groups on a regular basis and incorporate results into individual performance plans and KPI’s. Works within budgeted operating expenses and reports monthly, quarterly, and yearly variances as appropriate for this position. Works closely with field support teams to help develop strategic plans for major project implementation and / or accounts. QualificationsSKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS Project Management Diploma/Degree or equivalent essential. Minimum of five (4) years management experience in Project Management. Minimum of five (4) years contract furniture industry experience preferred. Understanding of AutoCAD and 20-20 software. Experienced and proficient in MS Office products; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project Minimum 4-6 years similar experience in a recent management role required Working knowledge of contract furniture industry preferred Working knowledge of CFS or similar Order Management System, AutoCAD and 20-20 Proficient with MS Office Products – specifically Excel, MS Project, Outlook and PowerPoint Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong analytical skills Team Building and coaching skills Excellent customer service, interpersonal and problem solving skills Excellent time management and organization skills Ability to diffuse difficult situations Ability to function as a member of matrix management team Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team for results
