Munich Re is seeking both an Analyst and a Senior Analyst to join our Toronto-based Tax Team.Reporting to the Director, Tax, you will be responsible for the preparation and/or review of all income and commodity tax provisions and returns for the Munich Re Canadian entities. You will also assist on CRA audits, tax research, and a variety of tax-related special projects.Candidacy for either position will be determined during the application process on a combination of relevant experience and training/education.The potential for flexible work week arrangements may be accommodated for these opportunities. Your job This opportunity encompasses a variety of responsibilities and oversight, including but not limited to the following:Tax Compliance and Governance: Prepares and/or reviews all quarterly and annual corporate income and commodity tax provisions and annual income tax and commodity tax returnsGathers and verifies all supporting documentation from various departmentsPrepares and/or reviews financial statement disclosure requirementsMaintains the income tax and commodity tax continuity schedules and tax rate tableMaintains organized audit ready files with appropriate documentation that are fully referenced and supported Strategic: Assists with the continuous development of process improvements and automation to the tax compliance processAssist in research to support tax positionsProvide technical support to ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and applicable foreign and domestic tax laws and regulationsAssists and collaborates with other departments or Munich Re companies on tax related special projects as required Your profile First and foremost, you will demonstrate a natural desire to accomplish amazing work through your energy, enthusiasm, and initiative. You have a demonstrated passion for establishing best practices and embracing opportunities for change through process and technology efficiencies.In addition, we are looking for the following qualifications: Post-secondary education and recognized accounting accreditation (CA, CPA, CMA, CGA)2-3 years (Analyst) and 3-5 years (Senior Analyst) of total tax experience requiredStrong proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and experience with Taxprep software requiredExceptional team player who possesses intellectual curiosity and contributes beyond area of expertiseWell-developed time management skills with ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently under tight deadlinesExcellent analytical and communication skills to present and explain financial information and results in a clear and concise mannerIn process of completing (Analyst) or completion (Senior Analyst) of CPA Canada’s In-depth Tax Course is an assetPublic accounting background and experience in Financial Services taxation is an asset
