Description Position Description:An opportunity exists for an experienced Accounting Clerk who can contribute to the efficiency and accuracy within the Accounting and Revenue Services Team. The successful candidate will assist in maintaining customer and accounting information and process accounts payable invoices while ensuring compliance of organizational policies and procedures. Accountabilities: Prepare source data for computer entry by compiling and sorting information; establish entry prioritiesMonitor and reply to Accounts Payable emailProcess new vendors and input accounts payable invoices for payment, monitor as necessaryVerify accuracy of invoices and related documentsResearch, track and resolve documentation problems and discrepancies, review vendor statements and investigate outstanding balancesComplete weekly electronic funds transfers and bi-weekly cheque runsData enter journal vouchers; process new account requests and assist with other accounting duties and reconciliations while ensuring deadlines are met. Provide back up for running monthly financial reportsAssist with testing of Accounts Payable processes during system upgrades or enhancementsEnsure effective communication with suppliers and internal customers and provide timely, accurate information as requiredContribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as neededOther duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: One (1) year post-secondary diploma in Business Administration, Accounting or a related fieldMinimum of two years’ related experience in a business environment in accounting, including experience processing invoicesEfficient data entry skills with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracyGood problem-solving and organizational skillsDemonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and in a team settingExcellent interpersonal and communication skills are required to effectively interact with employees, suppliers and other stakeholdersDemonstrated ability to effectively multi-task and handle changing priorities in a deadline driven environmentStrong math skills and work experience with general administration activitiesProficient computer skills (MS Office, Excel, Word)Previous experience using PeopleSoft Financial ERP system is preferredPrevious experience in a municipal environment preferredAbility to maintain confidentialityA satisfactory police criminal and judicial matters check is required as a condition of hireApplicants may be required to undergo skills assessment testing
