Background on the field school/RRMT program:

The Renewable Resources Management program at Yukon University provides students with the knowledge, skills and perspectives required to assist with the management of land, water, forest, fish and wildlife resources in the North.

It also prepares students for transfer to degree level programs in fields related to renewable resource management.

Position description:

An instructor is required to teach a one-day fisheries techniques module, in the field, to a group of eight first-year students.

The module would be repeated on three (3) successive days to cover a class of 24 students. Competencies include the use of gill nets, beach seines and Gee traps.

The instructor will be provided lodging and all meals from the Kluane Lake Research Station while employed in an instructional capacity.

The successful candidate must:
1) Be able to handle a boat safely on a large Yukon lake, and hold a valid Pleasure Craft Operator's license from Transport Canada.
2) Possess the technical expertise to teach the above modules.
