The Human Resources Business Partner works closely with organizational members and leadership on all human resource-related issues. The successful Business Partner acts as an ambassador of Telecon's values and change agent, anticipating and acting on HR-related needs, in collaboration with the business.

Responsibilities

  • Commit and instill the highest standards of Health & Safety and Telecon's organizational values
  • Work in partnership with Health & Safety Specialists and Managers to assist in driving a health and safety culture
  • Provides talent and culture policy guidance and interpretation to Leaders and employees
  • Manage day to day talent and culture programs, such as but not limited to onboarding, exit interview and internal procedures are followed
  • Partner with the Talent and Culture Coordinator for weekly and monthly reports related to headcount, turnover, recruiting and prepare ad hoc reports, as requested
  • Monitor and partner with Leaders pertaining to Leave of absence and return to work programs.
  • Manages and resolves employee relations issues and conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations
  • Formulates partnerships to deliver value-added service to Leadership and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization
  • Maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business unit's financial position, culture and its competition
  • Consults with line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate and remaining agile to support the needs of the business
  • Build strong relationship and work closely with the Unions representatives and union Stewarts
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, Collective Agreements, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to Leaders (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions) while ensuring full compliance with the Collective Agreement where applicable
  • Works closely with Leaders and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Develops contract terms for new hires, promotions and transfers
  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning
  • Perform other special projects, as assigned
  • Requirements

  • 3-5 years relevant human resources experience in a human resources capacity with an emphasis on labour and employee relations
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field
  • Experience supporting a unionized environment is a must
  • Construction field and/or manufacturing experience is an asset
  • Bilingual in English/French with both verbal and written communication would be an asset
  • Highly effective communicator and influencer
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competitive priorities in a dynamic setting
  • Additional Requirements
  • Valid Driver's License and a reliable vehicle
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time in the Ontario area (from Ottawa, Whitby, Vaughan, Hamilton and surrounding areas) to support remote client groups
  • Opportunity for remote working up to 50% of the time
