Duties and responsibilities:
- Prepare and update briefs and other court documents, correspondence and administrative materials for lawyer review and upload documents for court filing.
- Learning and eventually arguing at motions, and hearings.
- Learning and eventually conducting examinations for discovery, cross examination, and trial (with cocounsel).
- Legal research
- Compile affidavit of documents, arrange discoveries and serve notices of examination.
- Schedule court appearances, motions, Chambers appointments and commercial list matters.
- Keep cases organized by establishing and maintaining digital and physical files.
- Schedule, monitor and maintain calendars. Followup on actions required.
- Professionally interact with all firm members and clients.
- Organize and accurately maintain correspondence, records of billable hours, invoices and receipts.
- Correspond with clients in a timely manner, including providing requested information, updates etc.
- Briefing senior lawyer on a regular basis on work completed, work outstanding, and case status.
- Completing assigned tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Following up promptly with clients on their requests and questions.
- Ensuring all physical and electronic filing is organized and up to date on a regular basis.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- An accredited law degree and license to practice law in Ontario.
- Member of the Law Society of Ontario in good standing.
- A minimum of 12 year experience in civil, commercial or family law litigation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong grasp of legal fundamentals
- Strong legal writing and drafting skills
- Ability to observe, reflect, learn and improve
- Ability to independently find solutions to legal problems
- Patience to clients

$60,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
