We currently have an opportunity for an Assistant Controller to join our accounting team located in our Winnipeg Head Office.

You will have recently completed your CPA designation and are looking to expand your skills in financial accounting, budgeting and reporting, while assisting in the oversight of the accounting function for one of our operating divisions within Richardson.


Responsibilities:


  • The Assistant Controller will help to lead the accounting function for one of our operating divisions
  • Create financial models on investment opportunities and building of the business case to present to senior management
  • Supervise a team of 2 or more individuals at the Clerk, Senior Clerk, and Accounting Analyst levels
  • Lead the monthend accounting functions for one of our operating divisions, including the preparation of monthly financial reporting and analysis and the review of balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget for one of our operating divisions
  • Work with the Controller to monitor risk and ensure adherence to key internal controls
  • Assist in the yearend audit and financial reporting
  • Perform financial (and other) due diligence on potential investment opportunities.
  • Draft, develop and review reports and presentations for the Company's senior management and Board of Directors

Qualifications:

  • Professional designation in good standing (CPA) 3+ years of public practice experience, preferably working on complex engagements, would be considered an asset
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of IFRS, with experience preparing financial statements and related note disclosures
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively coach, mentor, and supervise a small group of staff
  • Welldeveloped organizational and analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize tasks, and ability to work independently
  • Solid experience using various financial tools and systems including ERP software and advanced MS Excel features
  • Keen interest in project management with a continuous improvement mentality
  • Financial modeling experience would be considered an asset, and well versed in various financial return thresholds. I.e. NPV, IRR, WACC, ROE, etc
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to relate to varying levels of stakeholders are also required
  • Proficient in Power Point, with experience preparing presentations for senior management and Boards of Directors. Includes a talent for aggregating information and distilling it into salient key points.
