Temporary Summer Student - Full time (May-September - 16 weeks)

Hours: 37.5 weekly Days

***: Responsible for planting, weeding, pruning, and watering of flowers, trees, and shrubs. General maintenance and appearance of grounds. Monitoring and maintaining plant health. Creating a pleasant environment that is safe and secure for residents, staff, volunteers and visitors.


Qualifications:


  • Extensive knowledge of perennials, annuals and shrubs required.
  • Previous experience as a gardener or in a horticultural environment is preferred.
  • Able to Communicate in English both verbal and written
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Assisting with the maintenance department as required.

  • Perform tasks despite frequent interruptions.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills
  • Ability to set priorities and multitask
  • Enthusiastic with a demonstrated history of excellent work ethic
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate a variety of garden tools and small power tools, required
  • Accountability and Dependability
  • Adhere to safe work practices and procedures
  • Willing to support the Care Centre's mission, health care philosophy and objectives

Education:


  • Enrolled or planning to enrol in post secondary
  • Experience with seniors is an asset

Please Note:
This position is a Summer Job Grant position and must be between the ages of 18 and 30.
