$73,923.20 annually ($35.54 hourly)


TERM:
Temporary until October 5, 2024, or return of incumbent.


START DATE:
March 25, 2024


SCHEDULE:
Sunday to Thursday, 7:00am - 3:00pm.

Schedule must be flexible, there will be times when the Assistant Manager is required to adjust their schedule to meet with staff on evenings and overnights.

As per Employment Standards, managers are excluded from the sections of the Act dealing with overtime entitlement.


PROGRAM SUMMARY

Opened in April 2019, Sechelt Modular housing provides 40 units of single room occupancy (SRO) housing to low-income individuals 19 years of age or older who live in the community, have a history of homelessness and who need additional support services to maintain housing.

This supported housing program is staffed by a combination of support workers, including an Indigenous Cultural Liaison Support Worker and a Peer Services Support Worker.

Each unit contains a private bathroom with toilet, shower, and sink, as well as a kitchenette.

The building has 24 hour/7 day a week staffing, with a minimum of two staff working on site to maintain the building, deliver programs, support tenants, and ensure a safe environment within the building.

The program supports also include an onsite kitchen facility and a cook to prepare at least one hot meal per day.

The building also has custodial, home support and facilities management staff.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • A B.A. in a relevant health discipline or equivalent experience
  • Training in supervisory and/or managerial functions.
  • Four (4) years of recent related experience with people living with mental health issues, substance use and/or are at risk of being homeless.
  • One (1) year in a supervisory, preferably managerial, capacity, and/or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Class 5 driver's license.
Required Skills, Abilities & Knowledge

  • Plan and direct a supportive housing program.
  • Present proposals and recommendations clearly, logically, and persuasively.
  • Consult effectively with the senior leadership team to develop solutions to complex organizational and people management issues.
  • Exercise sound, expert independent judgment within policy guidelines.
  • Exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive, complex, and confidential personnel issues and employee situations.
  • Influence work group processes to build commitment to program principles and goals and ensure a cohesive and collaborative staff team.
  • Translate theory and principles into workplace systems that ensure daily practice is aligned with theory/principles.
  • Knowledge of the strengthsbased recovery model for people with mental illness.
  • Knowledge of the biopsychosocial addictions model, including the transtheoretical model of change, harm reduction, motivational interviewing and relapse prevention and intervention strategies.
  • Detailed knowledge mental health diagnoses, medications, treatment, and support resources
  • An understanding of best practices associated with operating a supportive housing program and harm reduction practices.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous community and health resources.
