Facility Maintenance Attendant II in the Sustainability and Asset Management Department, Corporate Services Commission.

Note:

This is a part-time position (up to 24 hours per week) that will require on-site work at the Markham Civic Centre.**
Job Summary:Reporting to the Facility Asset Coordinator this position is responsible for assisting with both facility supervision and facility operations maintenance and repair work.

This position is responsible for the security and safety of the facility and its patron when no other full-time staff are available.

These positions will be located at the Civic Centre and the shifts will be mainly in the evenings and on weekends.


Responsibilities:


  • Provides support for facility meetings and special events occurring at City of Markham facilities.
  • Performs safety inspections at various facilities.
  • Notifies Facility Asset Coordinator if contract services staff are absent during their shift or if there are issues with contract services staff.
  • Performs general cleaning/maintenance (i.e mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, window cleaning, washroom/dressing room cleaning, snow shoveling, garbage pick up, detail cleaning, setups and breakdowns of tables and chairs).
  • Operates power tools, and cleaning and safety equipment.
  • Responds to requests from patrons (general public) and other City of Markham staff on a general facility issues and or maintenance requests.
  • Patrols sustainability and asset management operated facilities looking for facility problems, safety hazards, or improper departmental operations, logs issues via provided reporting tools.
  • Is responsible to report security issues to Building security.
  • Ensures that all policies and procedures are being followed by patrons and other parttime maintenance staff as applicable.

Required Qualifications & Competencies:


  • High School Diploma.
  • Valid class 'G' Ontario driver's licence. As a condition of employment you will be required to provide a satisfactory driver's abstract (No demerit points plus no more than 2 infractions max of one moving and one nonmoving conviction)
  • Minimum of 1 year working experience as Facility Maintenance Attendant or related role with strong general maintenance skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and nonverbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work tactfully with other staff as part of a team.
  • Effective computer skills.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR 'C'.
  • AED certified.
