    The Municipal Group of Companies, based in Bedford Nova Scotia, is a large, diversified organization engaged in all major aspects of heavy civil construction, mining, transportation, and environmental services within the Atlantic Provinces. As part of the Environmental Services division, we are currently seeking the qualifications and expertise of a Financial Analyst, Systems & Projects based out of Lower Sackville, NS.

    Job Summary:

    Reporting to the Controller, the Financial Analyst, Systems & Projects – Environmental Services Group (ESG) role will encompass a wide range of finance and accounting responsibilities. You will be a key resource in helping with the transition to a new ERP system by assisting with adapting business processes, documenting current and future work flows, and helping to ensure the new ERP system aligns with the businesses' needs. You will also work collaboratively with the Branch Managers and help drive the growth and success of the companies through identifying process inefficiencies, providing analysis and commentary on business performance.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as a representative for ESG and attend all ERP transition project meetings that relate to the Environmental Services companies;
  • Provide decision making in adapting business processes to align with new ERP system functionality and leading practices;
  • Document current and future processes to assist with change management and training;
  • Finance owner/administrator for current operational platform, TRUX – Haul-IT;
  • Provide analytical, forecasting, reporting and project support to senior management;
  • Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting process;
  • Any other duties as required.
  • Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in accounting/finance;
  • CPA Designation and a minimum of 5 years' experience in an accounting role;
  • Excellent communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills;
  • Advanced skill in Excel, working knowledge of Microsoft Office;
  • Superior organization and time management skills;
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • SAP user experience would be considered an asset.
  • System implementation experience would be considered an asset.
  • Experience managing / supervising a team would be considered an asset.
