JOB SUMMARY
The position is responsible for providing support to the clients at the Youth Employment Centre (YEC).

This position also includes providing administrative support to this department and maintaining communication with the Manager of the participants, community outreach, interviews and client groups as it relates to the YEC computer lab.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with clients on a dropin and appointment basis on various tasks to further their steps to employment
  • Career planning and vision casting for future roles and positions
  • Resume and Cover Letter Support
  • Interview Preparation
  • Ongoing support once a job had been successfully obtained
  • Maintain confidential database within client management system
  • Coordinate with the Manager to facilitate workshops and group training opportunities
  • Develop innovative ideas for programming and ways to improve experience for clients
  • Facilitate the North West Territories Post-Secondary Student Support Program as well as the Indigenous Student Education and Training Program
  • Develop work plans with individual student (including formative and summative assessments) to ensure the student is working towards education goals
  • Create annual budgets for each student to ensure proper amounts of funds are being allocated per participant
  • Remain in contact with clients enrolled in the program and maintain ongoing student files throughout the academic year
  • Maintain all records and administrate requirements dictated by the funder

JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Education in the field of business, administration, social work, education or other related fields
  • Experience working with at risk youth
  • Knowledge regarding the labor market and the have the capacity to support individuals who are working towards selfsufficiency

REQUIREMENTS OF ALL SJFC EMPLOYEES:

  • General knowledge of office etiquette, procedures & structure, including proficient working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook & Teams), internet navigation/research & overall digital confidence
  • Yukon First Nations & Cross-Cultural awareness, demonstrating compassion, empathy & healthy attitude toward trauma, substance abuse & addictions
  • Experience with an Indigenous Non-Profit organization is an asset & the services required by Urban Indigenous populations
  • Willingness to travel to communities to promote YEC as well as travel for professional development
  • Criminal Records Check (with Vulnerability Sector)
  • Class 5 Driver's License
