Overview:
Our Exshaw Cement Plant is looking to hire an

Electrical and Instrumentation Technician. This role is reporting to the Electrical Coordinator.


Responsibilities:


  • Practice and promote safety in such ways as including but not limited to; assessing risks before starting tasks, only performing authorized activities, utilizing appropriate PPE
  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas
  • Must be able to perform all electrical work safely in conjunction with all safety policies and practices including Lock-Out Tag-Out Try-Out
  • Exercise and encourage core values including but not limited to; developing self and coaching others by inspiration and empowerment
  • Responsible for installation, repairs, and maintenance of electrical equipment. Requires good knowledge of CEC code, electrical standards, pressure and temperature transmitters, PLC's, AC and DC drives, motors and their controls
  • Troubleshoot electrical problems in a systematic, logical manner to determine reasons for failures and necessary steps to make repairs
  • Carry out inspections and maintenance of motors, starters, and switchgear
  • Carry out isolation/deisolation of electrical equipment including voltages up to 4160V
  • Calibrating, monitoring, repairing and maintaining transmitters, controllers, plant safety systems, power systems and sensors
  • Troubleshoot and maintain gas analyzers and CEMS equipment
  • Work effectively with other plant personnel to resolve problems not necessarily related to electrical
  • Operate mobile equipment needed in performance of the job in a safe manner and within plant guidelines (forklift, man lift, truck)
  • Actively participate and contribute to training necessary in the performance of this position
  • Perform such other duties, including those not related to craft, as directed by the Electrical Supervisor
  • Operate independent of supervision
  • Respond to callouts during nonwork hours as needed
  • Be able to read and work from schematics and detailed instructions
  • Perform all job assignments using the prescribed safety equipment and procedures in a professional manner
  • Maintain work area in clean and organized condition
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Hold a valid Certificate of Qualification as a Journeyman Electrician and Instrumentation in the province of Alberta or Interprovincial Red Seal
  • Have basic computer skills
  • Own and maintain a complete set of hand tools as required by the trade
  • Hold a valid Class 5 driver's license
  • 25 years experience in an industrial environment
  • 25 years experience maintaining / repairing Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems
  • Electrical nowledge 120V to 4160
  • Accuracy by being meticulous, paying attention to details and following SOP's
  • Ability to multitask
  • Safety Awareness
  • Good communication skills
