The Exam Support Liaison is as part of the Learning Services (LS) team at the UBC Sauder School of Business and is the first point of contact between LS, UBC Sauder program team and UBC Sauder teaching personnel (including sessional instructors and tenured faculty).

The Exam Support Liaison supports faculty with learning technology implementation in order to enhance teaching excellence methods, as defined by the school, UBC and best practices, specifically in terms of online exam support.

The Exam Support Liaison coordinates the overall administration, implementation, live support and follow up of online exams at the UBC Sauder School of Business.

*This position is required to work evenings and weekends.


Organizational Status
Reports directly to the Operations Manager, Learning Technology Ecosystems, with additional accountability within the LS department as required. The Exam Support Liaison works under general program or departmental guidelines. Work is reviewed in terms of quality and effectiveness in meeting departmental and program goals.


Work Performed

Exam Support

  • Liaises with school faculty, teaching personnel and program staff to organize and support online exams.
  • Supports live exams (requires evening and weekend hours).
  • Advises and guides faculty in decision making during live exam support.
  • Troubleshoots all technical issues during a live exam.
  • Trains all staff, teaching assistants, and student staff in troubleshooting exam issues and use of live exam support platform.
  • Liaises with UBC central to troubleshoot issues prior to and during exams.
  • Identifies needs and opportunities related to advancing teaching excellence in exam creation and execution.
  • Provides personalized, individual consultative services to UBC Sauder faculty and staff on issues related to using online exams as aids to teaching and learning.

Knowledge Management and Communications

  • Coordinates, manages, develops, and publishes quick reference guides/job aids for specific and selected educational technologies.
  • Develops learning technologies resource materials and trains classroom support staff for Tier 1 assistance.
  • Liaises with key teaching and learning partners at the school to ensure accurate and timely sharing of exam information and resources.

Institutional Liaison

  • Consults with internal and external stakeholders on approaches related to integrating educational technology and pedagogy within the testing environment.
  • Models excellence in the choice and use of educational technologies through everyday practice and faculty consulting activities for exams.
  • Researches and participates in relevant, external technologyenabled teaching sessions to identify faculty training opportunities and resources.
  • Attends relevant program and technology related meetings and conferences.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Consequence of Error/Judgement

The Exam Support Liaison assists faculty, employees and other LS department members in making decisions impacting online exam design and delivery.

They will also assist in developing educational technology resources, workflows and best practices documentation.

Incorrect or poor decisions will have a significant impact on the Faculty's ability to provide successful exam support and student success.


Supervision Received

Reports directly to and is supervised by the Operations Manager, Learning Technology Ecosystems, with additional accountability and supervision within the LS department.


Supervision Given
This position does not formally supervise, but is expected to work closely with and on occasion delegate tasks to student tech rovers and/or CTLT
